Becks- Applying Packaging Design

I have bought a Becks six-pack packaging and have measured out its size, I have adapted my design to fit the front of the six-pack packaging which is 167x203, I have taken into account the holes at the top of the packaging for the bottle tops.
I have also made the photograph of the Becks bottle reflect the light so it stands out from the background.

Ministry of sound- Bus Shelter Ideas

I have come up with the idea of having real speakers in the sides of the bus shelter. The huge disco ball on top of the shelter will spin and colored spotlights will be shone up onto it to reflect light at night time. The TV inside the bus shelter will be showing the latest music videos, with Mininstry of sound advertisements to advertise their latest CD's and merchendise. There will be Ministry of sound adverisements around the shelter to brighten it up, and the bus shelter itself could be LED?

or with a pink disco ball.

Ministry of sound- Bus Stop Ideas

As I cant use the music turntable idea as McDonald's have already used this idea, I have thought about having a huge disco ball spinning round on top of the shelter or it could be applied to a number of places. The disco ball could have attaching at the sides and the top the 'Ministry of sound' text and the crown, the disco ball could represent the port cullis in the middle of the logo.
It could also have different colored lights shining onto it as it is spinning round to create a clubbing disco effect, this would be more effective at night.

Also a pink disco ball could look eye catching.

Becks- Applying Poster Design

I have produced different poster designs and showed how they can be applied to different types of poster, billboards, bus shelters and also bus advertisement.

and also a Double page spread of a magazine.

Becks- Poster Ideas

I have started to design my finished poster ideas adding a tag line in Avant Gaurde. I now need to show how my poster design can be applied to different places such as magazine double page spreads, billboards, bus advertisements etc.

Becks- Packaging Design Ideas

I have started to think about how I will use my design on the Becks six-pack packaging I am going to create. I like this idea of having a large photograph of the Becks bottle the same size as the bottle inside the packaging, with the illustration design and the lifeform next to it.

Becks- Poster & Web Ideas

I have experimented to see what my vector image looks like with a picture of the bottle instead of the vector bottle. I think my image would look better with a photograph of the bottle with the vector musical instruments. I then have started to lay out my poster to see what my image will look like with the black background and the life form. My initial poster idea is horizontal with the life form looking as though it is flowing out of the bottle along with the musical instruments and the records.

I have also tried this on the web page.

Critical Analysis- Ministry of Sound

I have been researching Guerrilla advertising and ive been looking through the book 'Advertising is dead, long live advertsing!' and I have found out a lot about advertising technique, proximity or getting up and personal, exclusivity or going where competion is not, invisibility or moving the brand to the background and unpredictability or catching the cosumer off guard. In this book I have found an advertisement from China in 2003 for McDonalds. Custom made bus shelters invited passers by to be DJs for a brief moment. When people spun the record on the left, they heard the 'Im lovin' it' brand song. The copy then told them to spin the record on the right, at which point they heard scratch sounds added to the original music at intervals. I like this advertisement although I think it would be better suited to Ministry of Sound. I have had the idea that the logo could be spinning round on the turntables, and also the speakers at the sides of the bus shelters playing the latest clubbing tunes. Also the fact that it would be a London bus shelter would mean millions of people getting the bus into and around London for a night out would see it.

I have also been thinking about different well known places in London that I could advertise the Ministry of Sound logo on, I have been experimenting with different ways in which the logo can be applied to different environments and media spaces with a edgy Urban vibe. I have thought about projecting the logo on to famous buildings in London. For example in 1999 for FHM's '100 Sexiest Women' poll, the image of Gail Porter was projected onto the Houses of Parliament, the projection is probably one of the most famous PR stunts of the 20th Century. This has given me the idea that the Ministry of sound logo could be projected onto the London Eye, as it is would fit perfectly in the middle, I have designed some images of what it would look like, with flashing lights to make it even more noticeable. I plan to experiment more with the ideas I have thought about and I am going to design a bus shelter with the Ministry of Sound logo.

Critical Analysis- Becks

I have started to get a better idea of what my final design is going to be like, I have been experimenting in Photoshop and Illustarter and have created a vector of the Becks bottle. I liked this idea although I wanted to try other ways of portraying the Becks bottle. I found an image that I liked of typography shaped into a pint glass which gave me the idea of creating the Becks bottle in this way, I also like the style of the limited edition bottles by coca cola, with their colourful illustrations covering the bottle. I started my idea by using typography that I had found and placing it inside the bottle, then I created my own typography fitting the band names from Becks Fusions inside, using all the colours of Becks with a black background. Also I used the Becks and the Fusions logo inside the bottle shape, and I tried using pictures of the the bands to fill the shape also.

I decided to go back to my other idea of using vctors, I took my original pencil sketch and used Photoshop to create vectors of the musical instruments. I made vectors for a Guitar, Trombone, Microphone and Keyboard, and I made it look as though they where exploading out of the vector bottle. I decided to include part of a collage of records behind the vector as well and this was the outcome.

I am planning to design a poster, a web page and also packaging design so I have been going through the YCN Becks brief pack and it must have a black background, the logo must be aligned to the left, the grid is made of 11 sections, the life form must be added but can be cropped, and all type must be in the font Avant Garde.

I have started to design my webpage by using the original Becks website background, using the Becks Fusions logo and re-arranged some of the original text, adding my vector design into it. I plan to finish my web page design using my own text and background adding the life form. I also have decided to create a four pack packaging design, I really like the packaging from a foreign beer called Brahma, which uses illustration and also has a picture of the bottle covering half of the side of the packaging, which is like the initial ideas I have had for my packaging design. I plan to experiment with my vector and how to add it to the packaging, also I will do the same for my poster design.

Becks- Initial Ideas for Web page

I have looked at the Beck's website and started to design my own version. I have used the original content on the Beck's website and the new logo with my design to see what the outcome will look like.

Becks- Intentions

I am planning to produce packaging design, poster design and also a web page design for my Beck's campaign.
I have been looking at the original web pages on the Beck's website.

Becks- Contents

I have looked at the YCN Beck's Brief pack and I have written down some of the main points that they want you to follow in creating my campaign.
The main points are the background of the poster, packaging, web-page etc, must be black.
The Beck's fusions logo must align left.
The Life form must be added- it may be cropped.
The typography must be in different versions and sizes of the font 'Avant Guarde.'
The colors must be red, green, light green, silver, black and white.

This is an example of a layout, it has a black background, the logo in the top left corner, the cropped life form and the text at the bottom in Avant Garde...

Becks- Ideas

I have tried combining my two favorite ideas, the pencil sketch of music instruments that I made into a vector and the collage of records that I scanned in.

This is the outcome...

I like this image idea, although I plan to make a few changes to make it better.

Ministry of sound- Guerrilla Research Video

I have been looking at Guerrilla Advertising to influence me in my ideas for the Ministry of sound brief.

Ministry of sound- Bus Shelter Research Video

I have been looking at the different types of advertising that is used for bus shelters to grab peoples attention. Nike have a huge ball with their logo on to get attention, Star Wars use bright light saver lights at night. I have also found some bus shelters that get attention in other ways such as bright colors and weird shapes.

Ministry of sound- Initial ideas

I have been researching many different types of advertising and I have had an idea of putting the Ministry of sound logo in a bus stop, the fact that it would be in a London bus shelter would mean millions of people would see it and also people getting the bus into and around London for a night out. I like this advertisement for McDonalds, although I think it would be better suited to Ministry of sound. The logo could be spinning round on the turntables, and also the speakers could be playing the latest clubbing tunes, maybe with flashing lights.

(Custom-made bus-shelters invited passers by to be DJs for a brief moment. When people spun the record on the left, they heard the 'Im lovin' it' brand song. The copy then told them to spin the record on the right, at which point they heard scratch sounds added to the original music at intervals).

Ministry of sound- Advertising Research

The Four Drivers Of Alternative Advertising:
The most reliable way to make sure you reach your destination is to have an in-depth knowledge of the available routes. Over the last few years, there has been an explosion of alternative routes in the communications industry. Terms like Guerrilla, Ambient, Stealth, Buzz, Word of mouth, Viral, Grassroots, Ambush, Stunt, Product placement, Branded content, Branded entertainment, Advergaming, Experiential, Permission and Wildfire have enjoyed increasing popularity. The vocabulary alone gives you an idea of how many forms alternative communications can take. Such labels as 'non-conventional' or 'alternative' have been used mostly as vague umbrella terms to cover the unexplored terrain beyond traditional advertising turf. Although the possibilities are endless once you venture off the well-trodden path, a number of recurring themes can be seen clearly among all the experimentation. To be more specific, the new ways in which companies are connecting with consumers have four driving forces in common: the desire for proximity, exclusively, invisibility and unpredictability.

Ministry of sound- Guerrilla Advertising

I have looked at these books containing Guerrilla Advertising- 'Guerrilla Advertising: Unconventional Brand Communication' and 'Advertising is dead, Long live advertising'...

As consumers get desensitived to constant bombardment, companies have been taking to extreme measures to stand out from the crowd. I especially like this advertisement by Guerrilla to promote the 2004 global-warming disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow to Indian audiences more likely to buy tickets for the latest Bollywood extravaganza, Indian ad agency Contract created a dramatic outdoor campaign for the Mumbai theater Fame Adlabs. They planted a billboard in the sea not far from Mumbai, so that it appeared submerged under water. In addition, the firm placed what looked like the tip of the Empire State Building further out to sea. The idea was to mimic the effect of Manhattan being overwhelmed by a giant wave in the movie—albeit off the Indian coast.

This giant retro-style record player featured a pickup in the shape of the Absolute bottle. Fully illuminated, 6x6 meters in size, with revolving turntable and moving tone arm, it hung above a bar in the borough of Friedrichshain - home of Berlin's famous music and DJ scene.

Becks- Ideas

Using my vectors that I have made of the Beck's bottle, Guitar, Keyboard, Trombone and Microphone I have made one off my pencil sketches and created it in Illustrater. I have also used pictures of a old record horn and records in my idea.

Becks- Ideas

I have started to create a vector for one of my pencil drawings in Photoshop and Illustrator, so far I have created a vector of a Microphone, Trombone, Keyboard and a Guitar.
